There's now a wealth of published genealogical information readily available to the researcher: Birth, Marriage & Death registers, Census records and genealogical indices. But they will only take you so far - to form a picture of the life your ancestors lead, you'll have nothing but your own imagination.

Now, Sutherland Eyes can be your eyes and ears in the Highlands, finding the places where your relatives lived, were married or buried. Many older settlements, churches and burial grounds are now abandoned and largely forgotten. We'll find them for you, take pictures and give you a written report on the area as it was then and as it is now.

Based on your own research, our investigations, or a combination of both, we aim to provide you with a written and photographic 'picture' of the area, giving you a feel for the places where your family lived and worked - villages with names you may know but will never, now, find on a map.

And if you then decide to visit, we'll take you straight to those places so you can see them for yourself.
